JANUARY / FEBRUARY ART CONTEST AND SHOW

Congratulations to all participants in the last art contest!

Last month students had the opportunity to learn acrylic painting in the dorms.  They spent a considerable amount of time learning techniques and perfecting their work.  There were eleven beautiful paintings entered in this month’s show, and over 80 students voted for the winner. 

Based on votes during the show, here are the:  MARCH ART CONTEST DETAILS

Cathy Slats painted the two pieces above.  Cathy was a little timid at first, but she quickly developed confidence a love for painting.  She attended almost all of the painting sessions, and ended up winning the show with her giraffe painting!

 

Janell Morgan was another student new to painting.  With a little instruction, she ended up making a beautiful depiction of Mt. Verstovia silhouetted in the morning light.  This painting made her first runner-up.

 

The artist of this piece, Jasmin Afcan, is a regular in the art shows and a first place winner of an earlier show.  Her style is expressive, abstract and bold.  She won second runner-up with this painting.
