There were nine beautiful collages entered in this month’s show, and over 80 students voted for the winner. Jasmine came in first, Nellie Alakayak was second place, and September Campbell-Burkett came in third.
This month the medium was collage and the theme was “me.” Students cut, tore, and pasted images from popular magazines to create a representational mosaic.
Students can turn a finished product any time during the month, and the art show is held on the first Monday of the next month. During the show students check out the artwork, vote, drink sparkling cider, and have snacks. Finally, the votes are counted and the winner is announced.
The winner is awarded $30 cash, the artwork is professionally framed and hung in the dorms, and he or she gets to bring a friend on a special camp trip at the end of the semester.
Everyone is encouraged to enter the October show!
