Business Class
Teaches Freshmen to Budget Money

Mr.  Winslow’s “Introduction to Business” class taught all the freshmen in Freshmen Orientation Class how to set up a budget for their time at MEHS.

Here is their advice!!

  1. Write everything you spend your money on and the amounts (guess if you can’t remember). In your journal, write down all of the things you spend your money on -everything! Be thorough.
  2. Categorize your list
  3. Add up the total and write it on an index card
  4. Make envelopes for each category –starting with the 10% envelope
  5. On the outside of the envelope, write the amount you need to put in the envelope
  6. Explain how to use the envelope –eg: food – when you go to the store, you can’t spend more than what’s in the envelope= gives you power over your spending…
  7. Over a few weeks, you’ll see where you can adjust the amounts on the envelopes. It is surprising how much money you will be able to save!
