MEHS COVID PLAN PAGE
3-25-20 MEHS has gone to an online delivery for the remainder of the 2020 school year. We are planning for Fall 2020 and are accepting applications. We will be working closely with the Department of Education and the State Department of Health and Social Services in developing a safe plan to provide education to our students.
Revised 03-14-20
MEHS families that wish to have their child travel home at this time should email studenttravel@mehs.us or call 907-966-3200 on Monday 3-16-20.
In the meantime we will continue our prevention work and have put into place a screening protocol for any staff or student who has traveled or may be concerned about symptoms.
Original message 03-05-20
MEHS has revised our infectious disease response plan to be specific to the current COVID-19 virus. Stage 1 is Prevention. Students are being taught best practices to prevent the spreading of a virus such as handwashing techniques and cleaning. Cleaning surfaces in the classrooms has been increased and the dorm details are getting special attention with increased monitoring. At this time only out-of-state travel has been restricted. If the virus is identified in Sitka, more campus controls and restrictions will be considered. Behind the scenes, a response team is working on plans to contain the virus if identified on campus.
The response team is working closely with the guidelines put out by the
US Department of Education, the
Alaska Department of Education and Early Development and the
Center for Disease Control.
